How we source and check

Sources first

• Every regulated value, fee, statistic and date is cited to its source, footnoted where it appears.
• We prefer primary sources: legislation and regulations, the Safety Codes Council and STANDATA, the City of Calgary, the Alberta Utilities Commission, ENMAX Power’s approved tariff, Statistics Canada, Job Bank and Natural Resources Canada.
• Where no official figure exists we say so. We do not publish invented price ranges.

Costs

Electrical work in Calgary is priced job by job. Where a page gives a number, it is an official fee, an approved utility charge, a published federal guidance figure or an official index, and the page says which. Wages published by Job Bank are what electricians earn, not what a contractor bills.

Code and safety

Code, permit and safety summaries are general information, not advice. They are checked against the current text on the date shown. Electrical work is dangerous and regulated: read the regulation, take out the permit, and use a certified electrician.

Data

Permit and inspection counts come from the City of Calgary’s Electrical Permits and Inspections dataset under the Open Government Licence – City of Calgary. We publish aggregates only: no addresses, no homeowner names and no contractor names or rankings.

Independence

No contractor or supplier pays for placement or mention. Links to agencies and programs are there because readers need them.
